Waris Dirie born in 1965 in Somalia.She is a Somali model, author, actress and human rights activist. She started her career as a model and had worked for some top designers such as Chanel, Levi's, L'Oréal and Revlon. She also discovered herself as an actress in movies such as The Living Daylights. She also authored books like Desert Flower,Desert Dawn, Letter To My Mother, and Desert Children. In 2010, Waris Dirie was appointed Peace Ambassador for the Year of Peace and Security by the African Union.
